Winter often brings to mind cold temperatures, with ice, snow, and stark grey days. But so far the 2012 winter season has ushered in delightfully mild, beautiful and crisp sunny days perfect for a visit to Falls Park! Park crews have been busy pruning shrubs, cleaning up spent perennials, and applying mulch to planting beds in preparation for the annual spring explosion.
Currently Falls Park is a natural canvas splattered with shades of brown, tan, and gray. The naked branches and twigs of leafless trees display intricate patterns against the sky. There is a quiet whisper of rustling leaves and branches of dormant trees, shrubs, and perennials. Displays of pansies, violas, and parsley offer small exclamations of color throughout the park. Glimpses of the green tips of tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, and scilla beginning to sprout hint that spring will be here before we realize. This natural art show invites visitors to linger on park swings and benches to enjoy the quiet stillness of winter.
For a respite from a hectic schedule, come visit Falls Park before the frenzied crowds and sweltering temperatures of spring and summer are upon us.
